Hoping for a hundred!

I have got my fingers crossed for school tomorrow!  It is our 100th Day of School and we have so much to celebrate!  If there is a cancellation because of inclement weather, all of the festivities will be postponed to Thursday, January 31st.  Here is a glimpse of some 100th Day Writing Activities…

Compare and Contrast

We talk about the concepts of same and different all the time, but don’t use the terms, “compare” and “contrast” as frequently.  Today, our kindergarten kiddos practiced comparing and contrasting by looking at characters in our Book of the Week, “Friends”.  They compared by finding what was the same and contrasted by finding what was different.  I challenged them to compare and contrast their family members tonight at home!

This is our comparing and contrasting anchor chart.

Goal Setting

We have been working so hard on self-monitoring our own reading and writing.  One way to practice has been to set our own goals for writing.  Kindergarteners write their names on a post-it and then decide which writing skill they want to focus on with this specific writing piece.  After sharing, students will reflect on whether or not they met their goal.  It has been so amazing to see how much they reflect and self-monitor their own work!  IMPRESSIVE:)

Puppy Days!

Before Winter Break, one of our BOTW was called, “The Gift” and was all about a little girl who got a puppy for a gift.  We were so fortunate to have Bodhi bring his 2 Chinese Cresteds in for show and tell.  MOST of the kiddos loved playing with the 2 dogs:)
